Dr Hazel McCullough, MCDC's Professional Development and Educational Advisor, has been busy contributing to a mentorship working group funded by the Canadian Coalition for Global Health Research. The group brings together experts from a number of exciting mentorship initiatives, in Canada, Africa, Latin America, and the UK/Europe, all working to strengthen global health research capacity.
One of the first activities of the working group has been to contribute stories about their programmes. Their aim was to assemble a collection of stories, each with a different central theme. When read together, these stories would reveal a rich and detailed understanding about the practice of mentorship and about the particularities of mentorship in the context of global health research. The stories offer a wide variety of different approaches to mentorship in global health. Hazel's focuses on the MCDC mentorship programme and how mentorship differs from supervision. Read Hazel's case study about the MCDC mentorship programme or find out more about the activities of the working group.
