KNUST CDG Members

The Career Development Group (CDG) was formed in June 2013. The group is located in the College of Health Sciences, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) which is one of the six (6) Colleges in the University. The Group proposed and facilitated the establishment of a Career Development Centre in the College with the aim to promote a systematic and sustainable approach to career development for staff, academicians and researchers. The Centre is currently managed by a team, made up of four (4) faculty staff from the School of Public Health and the Faculty of Pharmacy.

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • The Centre has developed a drafted activity plans for the period 2014-2017 to guide the running of the Centre.
  • The Centre has conducted an electronic pilot survey on needs assessment for the faculty within the College in the Faculty of Allied Health. A bigger survey will be extended to the other schools in the College soon.
  • A successful baseline assessment was conducted for faculty within the College to ascertain their views on the establishment of a Centre.
  • The Centre has appointed a coordinator and an administrator to support the team to execute the planned activities for the Centre
  • The Centre organized a course for young faculty and PhD students in the College on Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (SRMA) in September 2014. 

WAY FORWARD

  • The Centre is setting up an office for the administrative running of the Centre’s activities
  • There are plans to inaugurate the Centre
  • The Centre plans to mobilize funds and other resources to successfully complete the planned activities
