Amit Bhasin

MCDC Manager

Amit Bhasin is the project manager of MCDC and has been working at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine since 2002. He was initially part of the management team of the of the Gates Malaria Partnership (GMP),  a major capacity strengthening programme, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which worked across 15 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and which was the precursor to MCDC.  He gained a PhD in 1996 from the University of Aberdeen where he investigated the role of host derived odours in the host-seeking behaviour of biting midges.  He subsequently completed a three year post-doctoral training fellowship at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, where he was involved in a project, working in Mali, which investigated whether female mosquitoes use aestivation as a survival mechanism during the dry season.
