Eric Katagirya

MSc Student
Project title:
Characterization of humoral responses to Plasmodium falciparum among parasitaemic asymptomatic children in a malaria endemic area

Eric Katagirya is a Ugandan born and trained medical doctor. He currently training at Makerere University for a Master's in Medical Microbiology. He has a passion for basic sciences, particularly microbiology related disciplines, and is specifically interested in pathogenesis and pathology of infectious diseases. His dissertation research is about antibody immune responses in asymptomatic children with plasmodium parasitaemia. Prior to this MSc he was fully engaged in general patient care and management. After completing his Master's Eric plans to grow a career in research and academia. Preparation for his dissertation has opened his eyes and ignited a desire to understand molecular and immunological basis of malaria. He hopes to pursue a doctoral degree in one of these subjects.
