Malawi

MCDC partners, the College of Medicine at the University of Malawi in Blantyre are working to strengthen institutional research capacity. MCDC Students, Harold Ocholla, Sanie Sesay and Nyanyiwe Mbeye are all registered for their PhDs at the College. They are also supported by the Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Programme, who provide supervisory and advisory support to the students.

Six MCDC investigator projects are being carried out in Malawi. These vary from a study looking at the genetic structure of Plasmodium falciparum to the establishment of a Haematology Laboratory.
